Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind by George Strait
We took off from San Antonio about 7 am and made a quick pit stop to Quack's 43rd Street Bakery in Austin to pick up some Blueberry Danish for Andrew and Erica. We also picked up Michelle while we were there but it was clear that the blueberry Danish items were the key items we had to get in Austin (poor Michelle, always being picked on).
The cake was a delicious chocolate cream cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes in Fort Worth, Texas. Erica pre-ordered the cake for Cynthia's Birthday along with unbelievably fantastic cupcakes. The highlight of the trip was having dinner at Andrew's parents' house in Flower Mound, TX.
His parents, Janet and Pat were terrific hosts and treated us to a fantastic dinner. Erica, Jordan and Janet did most of the cooking. Andrew started us off with appetizers including goat-cheese & crackers and his "fall-off-the-bone" tender ribs. Who knew that the man could cook! This was followed by salad with homemade dressing, penne with Marinara sauce and Italian style chicken-fried steak. It was all good! The cupcakes and ice cream served as our desserts for the night.
Later that evening, we all headed back to Erica's place to open the presents, and sing, "Happy Birthday" to Cynthia. Of course her favorite present was a gift listed as a framed-picture of me naked on a bear-skin rug, but turned out to be rows of $20 bills instead. .......>>>She was relieved!
Of course, included with every trip to the area, is a stop in at Mom's Favorite Mexican restaurant, Dos Gringos, where we make our usual toast to Connie (who is with us on every trip) with Margaritas and an "avocado pizza".
Another favorite stop of ours is the Czech Stop just past Waco in West, Texas (exit 353), where we stopped on the way home and loaded up with the best Kolaches in Texas!!! You would think that we would take pictures of the kolaches but at least here is the bag that they came in. We arrived home tired and worn out, but had a great over-night stay in For Worth.
